Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Incorporated was established on April 4, 1986 at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa by 18 honorable gentlemen.
Sigma Lambda Beta's Tau Chapter at CSU, Dominguez Hills was established on August 12, 1992 by four honorable gentlemen: Jorge Nunez, Edwin Lopez, Juan Gutierrez and Chris Luyando. The Tau Chapter nicknamed "Thee Terrible Tau," was the first chapter established on the west coast within Sigma Lambda Beta's first 6 years of existence making the fraternity coast to coast. The Tau Chapter is directly/indirectly responsible for the expansion of 23 chapters/colonies in California alone and has seen over 100 members join this storied chapter. Sigma Lambda Beta was the first Latino Based fraternity established here at CSU, Dominguez Hills and has since been recognized as one of the largest and fastest growing multicultural fraternities in the nation.
Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. prides itself in not only the recognition, but the intersection of these four principles: Brotherhood, Scholarship, Cultural Awareness, and Community Service.
